Math from Ancient India

<Draft>When we think about the contribution of Ancient India towards Math, the most prominent thing we will get is invention of '0'. But, is it the only contribution? Certainly not. In this article, I would like to shed some light on few other contributions of India towards Math. Zero and Decimal system The decimal number system, which the entire world is currently using is a contribution of India. It would have been impossible to represent large numbers using Roman numbers. The decimal system from India, reached Europe via Arabia. So, these numbers are generally referred to as Arabic numbers. But, their origin is in India. Here is an image I found in Wikipedia.  While I won't say that without the contribution of ancient Indian mathematicians we would still be struggling with the unscalable Roman numbers. This contribution of India to the world is truly remarkable.  Value of Pi Wheel is considered one of the greatest inventions ever made that helped with human develop...

Recent unfortunate developments and its long term effect on Indian society.

Recently, I am seeing many couples in India getting separated. Which is new to a country where divorce rate is historically very less. That doesn't mean couples in India are happy earlier. Many of them are quite unhappy and hate the other person. But, in my opinion they remained together for below reasons- Divorce is a big taboo. Divorced women are easy target. They are Gyana Yoga (Understanding), Karma Yoga (Duty) and Bhakti Yoga (Devotion).  The interpretations I am writing in this blog mainly focuses on Gynana Yoga and Karma Yoga. I skipped most part of Bhakti Yoga. For anyone who is more interested in Bhakti Yoga, there are plenty of other wonderful sources available.  I also tried to convey the meaning in a way that most people will understand. This also mean that there is too much simplification at some places. For example, I used the word "duty" in place of "Karma" many times. While the word "Karma" won't clearly translate to "Duty", this is the best word I ca...
