Bhagavad Gita - Chapter 9

Krishna : Let me now teach you the wisdom understanding which you can overcome the agony in life. This is both easy to practice and better then everything else.  I am spread all across the universe, and every element is within me. But, I am not present in any of those. To be more precise, while every element takes birth from me and I am the reason for their sustenance, I am not the one who is responsible for their activities . All the elements sink back into me at the end only to be emitted back by me during recreation. This is a cyclic process. After being responsible for all this, no act could get a hold of me as I perform my duties with no interest on result. Arjuna, everything you are seeing or experiencing in this universe is me. Everything you are doing is for me. People are getting confused as they are not able to understand this. Arjuna, believe that everything you are doing is for me. Then, no strings will be attached to you even after performing material deeds. Remember t...

Bhagavad Gita - Chapter 8

Arjuna : Krishna, please tell me what is the ultimate truth; what is Karma; who is the ruler of our body; Krishna : Ultimate truth is the one which is indestructible. Its nature is spirituality. Karma is nothing but the thoughts generated by your interactions with the nature. I am the ruler of this body and also resides in it. Arjuna, remember that whatever a man thinks, he gets only them. Just think of me and wage the war, you can then reach me.  Chapter-7                                                                                                          Chapter-9 Bhagavad Gita Index

Lone Wolf - Motivational Video For All Those Fighting Battles Alone

I did watch this video few years back when I am struggling to keep up with the challenges I am facing in my personal life. Some of them, I am not even able to share with anyone. At that time, this simple video reminded me what I already know. When your life becomes tougher, many people will just abandon you for their own good and you have to face the challenges of life alone. I also realized later that, being strong in such instances and facing them boldly will be well rewarded. Adding this to my blog, hoping that this will help some other people as well.

Bhagavad Gita - Chapter 7

Krishna: Arjuna, always keep your interest upon me while performing your duties. Let me explain you in detail how to understand me. While very few people really tries to understand me, of these only a rarest person understands me truly. The nature of mine is divided as Earth, Water, Fire, Air, Sky, Mind, Wit and Pride. These are the ones that are visible, there is yet another nature of me. That is Life, I am responsible for this life and later I will be responsible for its destruction. There is nothing greater to me, everything is actually dependent on me. I am the strength which doesn't include lust or affection. Everything is originated from me, either it is Satwika , or Rajasika or Tamasika. While, entire universe and every living being revolves around these three characteristics. Yet, they are not able to understand me, who actually created these characteristics. It’s difficult to overcome the illusions created by these characteristics, only he who is able to reach me can ove...

How Gandhi included common man in struggle for Independence

No one needs any introduction about Mahatma Gandhi. He is the one who united Indians and fought a non traditional battle against Britishers. He is the one who thought the world that Truth, Non-Violence, Peace are not week but they are a symbol of strength.  How did he do that? Why did people took blows without protesting, just because a half naked lean man asked them? What is so great about him? In this blog I want to answer these from my perspective. First of all, Gandhi might look week. But, when his ideology is added to him, he becomes immensely powerful. Now the question is, how can an ideology alone makes a person so powerful. The answer for that is, No. Ideology alone doesn't make a person great. Dedication towards it, following it with whole heart and trying to help people through that makes a person great. It is the same with Gandhi, his dedication towards his belief. The answer to first question above is, Gandhi's dedication and determination towards his belief. Coming...

Huge changes in me with arrival of my son

It is now more then 14 months since my son entered the world. While he is so tiny, he did cause some huge changes for me. I started waking up even with slightest cue he makes even in the middle of the night. I started looking at his face in pictures instead of mine. I don't like the quite environment when he is not around. My patience level is atleast doubled. I never thought I will love someone so much even whey are the cause of my sleep deprivation. This small fellow became the prime factor when I make any decisions. Source of my feelings moved to him. If he is playing, I am happy and if he is crying, I am worried. I am more happy with his tiny milestones (like crawling and walking) then my personal achievements. My photos became scares on my phone, they were replaced by my little one. My screen time for non-work related stuff reduced drastically.

The Software Engineer who Traveled Back in Time - Part 4

While everything that is happening on that day is unexpected and scary for Mahesh, what happened last 2 minutes only made them multifold. Relieved to see the scorpion pushed away from his thigh, Mahesh turned back to see who that is. There Mahesh saw a man with brown skin tone.  That person is carrying a stick with sharp nails at the end. That looked like a hunting tool. He is wearing something similar to glasses that covered his whole eye without any opening. The cloths he is wearing looked very strange, in the world of Mahesh, he would be beaten and driven away for wearing these cloths. His cloths looked like multi pieces of thread hanging from top to bottom without any gap. Mahesh, with all his knowledge of history, never knew about these kind of clothing.  Mahesh suddenly got a doubt, did he travel through time backward or forward? Is he still in Hyderabad or does he moved to a different location while traveling through the time. It might be hardly 10seconds since Mahesh s...

Bhagavad Gita - Chapter 6

Krishna : Arjuna, a true yogi is the one who performs the tasks he is responsible for with no desire on results obtained through it. But not the one who just performs religious duties and abandons his responsibilities. Performing tasks without the desire is the tool to meditate. He who doesn’t have material wishes, and abandons desires is a true yogi. Remember that a person is responsible for himself. He can either become his own friend or enemy. You can experience the divine by not getting effected by happiness or sadness and respect or shame. A yogi should be able to get content with his knowledge and raise above his senses. He sees both sand and gold as same. He doesn’t distinguish between friend, family, enemy, wise and ignorant. Yogi should have his mind and senses under control, and dwell with himself without any wishes. He should continue his learning with concentration in a clean and flat place. While learning, he should stand with a straight body posture, look straight with co...

Atajani Kanche Bhumisuradambara Chumbi poem - Telugu Lyrics (one of my favorite telugu poems)

While there are many awesome sweet poems in Telugu. This poem written by Alasani Peddana in "Pravaruni Swagatam" stands out. I read this in my 10th standard Telugu. But, after about 18years, I still can recite this poem. This poem is so lovely.

Harvard's 75 year study on what makes a good life

This TEDx talk is so interesting to see what a person goes through in his entire life. A study on human development for this long might be rare if not unique. But, the findings in this study are profound. Though the study is conducted in United States, I am sure results from a new place won't be that different. I recommend everyone to spare 13 minutes of their life watching this video. It may change your perspective of life.

The Software Engineer who Traveled Back in Time - Part 3

Mahesh walked with all those questions in mind for about an hour. He doesn't know what time it is, what date it is, what year it is and what place it is. He is getting thirsty and his feet started to pain, he is not used to walk outside barefooted. The skin tight cloths he is wearing are making him even more uncomfortable. He continued his journey in a random direction. He is not able to guess the direction he is going as it is already mid day. Atleast if it is morning or evening, he would have guessed the direction based on the position of Sun. After walking for about 30 more minutes, he saw moving water. In his whole life Mahesh never felt the taste of water till then. He drank water by using his palms and washed his face. The cold water touching his face on this warm day has brought a wonderful joy to him. But that joy remained with him for only few seconds before the questions came back to his mind. With very tired body, tired mind and with hungry belly, Mahesh sat below a tree...

Bhagavad Gita - Chapter 5

Arjuna : Krishna, you are praising both Karma Sanyasa (Detachment with duty) and Karma Yoga (performing once duty) in parallel. Which is very confusing. Please let me know which one to follow and which one of them is better for me. Krishna : Both these are great. But in my opinion, performing once duty(Karma Yoga) is better than trying to detach with their duty(Karma Sanyasa). Also, it is not possible to attain Karma Sanyasa without performing Karma Yoga. In short, you can attain Karma Sanyasa by performing your tasks(Karma Yoga) without lust and expectations. Once you are able to carry your duties that way, you will also attain Salvation. He who performs his tasks with self-conscious mind, pure heart and considering every living creature same as self will not be bounded or effected by his duties even though he performs them. He performs all his tasks, but still be the person who won’t dwell on them. He does his tasks only for purifying his sole but not with interest. The ultimate rule...

The Software Engineer who Traveled Back in Time - Part 2

It is 4 in the morning. Everyone is having a sound sleep. But, it is not the case with Mahesh. Not that he is worried about the tight deadline in office. In reality, he is not able to stop thinking if he really wants to use the device for time traveling or not. If he uses it, he won't be able to deliver the project he committed for. Again, opportunity like this won't present to everyone. Not utilizing it doesn't sound good for Mahesh. His thoughts still wandering and making a list of pros and cons of using the device. Then his thoughts slowly blurred and Mahesh went into a deep sleep on his comfortable bed. His sleep is disturbed by the sound of his phone ringing and vibrating continuously. Not knowing the time and with much difficulty, Mahesh answered the phone. He felt that there is a huge noise from other end and before he can make what it is, the call is ended. Mahesh gained little consciousness, and realized that it is his Manager on other end. He also found that the t...

Should Dihydrogen Monoxide be banned?

While we know about many toxic chemicals like Carbon Monoxide, Carbon Dioxide, Hydrogen Monoxide and many other. One chemical that we often ignore is Dihydrogen Monoxide(DHMO). The way it is effecting every human is unthinkable. While its side effects are historically considered minor and are ignored by people, no scientist denies the significant side effects caused by Dihydrogen Monoxide. In fact, it acts as a shelter to major source of bacteria and viruses. These bacteria and viruses attack human and cause severe damage to health, when a person gets into close contact with this compound. In few unfortunate cases, it is even fatal for the human. It is time to acknowledge that the risks associated with DHMO has increased multiple fold now. This might be the correct time to consider banning DHMO from public use. Consider the number of people that will be saved by avoiding the diseases brought by DHMO. Diseases caused due to DHMO is only one of the major side effects. There are multiple ...
