Why COVID hit back India hard

Why COVID hit back India hard? This question can be answered with so many reasons. The simple answers are "India thought, COVID won't come back". "India thought, COVID can't do anything to them".

They are precisely the reasons. When I refer to India, I am referring to most of the people, central and all state governments and opposition parties. Everyone got complacent. I want to refrain from blaming people, as the amount of information they have is limited. But, the government(both central and state) needs to be blamed more. Not just for doing huge election rallies or organizing religious events(Kumbh). But, more on how they failed to Vaccinate people when they had chance. If they say, they didn't expect this. Then, they are either stupid or they have useless advisors. 

Coming to next point, what went wrong regarding Vaccinating

Government forgot to order vaccines. They failed to give confidence to people on Vaccines. They failed to control fake news regarding Vaccines. They thought, purchasing 200 crore vaccines is like going to a medical shop(in this case Vaccine maker) and borrow them whenever they want. But, vaccine makers didn't make 200 crore additional doses without knowing if there will be a buyer at all. So, one fine day when GOI walked to their shop and asked for Vaccines. They didn't get any. Now, as people started dying and blaming GOI. GOI started doing course correction. 

You are wrong if you assume that they started procuring Vaccines wherever available. They still want to make India "AtmaNirbhar". So, they passed half the responsibility to States. So that, states also can share blame with them. They made wonderful deal with Vaccine makers to buy each vaccine for Rs.150. Then, they made even wonderful deal with them to sell Vaccines with to states for Rs.300. Simply put they got great deal with vaccine prices, started an unhealthy competition between states, added more headache to Vaccine makers as they have to deal with 30+ customers instead of 1 customer. 

Thus, GOI achieved to find a Loss-Loss situation. Where, everyone can be a loser along with them-

• People lost family members and friends.
• Indian Vaccine makers have to deal with ambiguity.
• States have to compete with other states when there is limited supply, so that they can lose more money.
• BJP(party heading GOI) lost Bengal elections.

Now, is there any course correction happening. Ofcourse there is-

• More blame to state governments which are not ruled by BJP.
• Threats to people who criticize or raise questions or even dare to give suggestions to government.
• Aggressive PR campaign to divert people's attention and to shift the blame.
• Promise to get Vaccines in the future.

Meanwhile, what opposition is doing. While the so called leader of opposition is busy swimming in Kerala water before 2nd wave of COVID. He got his senses immediately after 2nd wave is hit. 

• He complained about New parliament building.
• Regularly updating his social media handles criticizing GOI.
• Not focusing his valuable energies either by giving suggestions or helping Congress ruled states to be a role model in handling this pandemic. 

Simply put, he(Rahul Gandhi) is the only hope for BJP to get away after such reckless and lackluster way of handling.

PS: This is only my personal opinion based on what I saw in news and what I saw people went through.
