It is the first Saturday of the month. In simple words, first weekend after getting salary. Every young software engineer in Hyderabad knows that feeling. It is not much different for Mahesh, who is working in the world's largest software company. But, on this day he is still sleeping at 11AM.
The story of Mahesh is inspiring to his close circle. His relatives show him as a role model to next gen kids. The reason for such an admiration is not due to any great innovation or social service activity he did. It is even more important for the society, he has the crazy tag of Software Engineer. Who works in an air conditioned office with a computer. Ofcourse, no one really knows what Mahesh does with the computer.
Let's take a step back. Like most of the middle class millennials from South India, Mahesh has few milestones in his life right from his childhood. These were carefully set by his parents-
- Get good rank in engineering entrance exam, so that he can get seat in a local engineering collage.
- Get campus placement, so that there is no need to search for job after college.
- Change company in 2 years, so that he can increase salary to afford buying a 3bhk house on EMI.
- Find a good looking girl for marriage and settle down.
With his effort, he achieved first 2 milestones. The software boom in 2010 has landed him in world's 2nd largest software company. With little effort he achieved the 1st part of 3rd milestone, when he landed himself at the world's largest software company. The software boom caused the real estate boom as well. This resulted in Mahesh buying his dream 3bhk with a higher EMI.
As soon as the 3rd milestone is met, his parents got busy to achieve 4th milestone of their lovely son's life. But, unknowing to them Mahesh has a love story. Which he thought to share with his parents after achieving 3rd milestone. But, that girl settled for an NRI before Mahesh can convey to his parents. This has a really bad effect on Mahesh. To overcome this, Mahesh developed couple of interests. That is a surprise for his parents and even to himself. He now likes to travel and learn history. For 6 months, he traveled every weekend. He traveled to various historic places, hill stations, beaches and what not.
After all this, he is not satisfied. He wants to know history more closely. How can that be done. He reached out to various historical scholars to get more details and he talked to elder people in society to know about society during their childhood. He did what ever he can to know history better while making sure that his Software job is secure.
While he is pursuing his passion, his parents are busy to find an idle bride for their son. One day during early January 2019, Mahesh hit his jackpot. He met a crazy scientist accidentally, that scientist understood the interest of Mahesh in history. He told Mahesh that he has a device that can take him back in time any number of times. Hearing this, Mahesh is super excited to have that. The scientist then starts telling the limitations-
- The device will only take the human body to a different time. No gadgets, no books, no maps and not even regular cloths. Only a pair of special cloths without any accessories.
- Operating this device is a simple process. But, for every one year we travel back. This device takes 1 minutes to warm up. So, if you travel for 10 years, then you should wait for atleast 10minutes to reuse the device.
- This device can only take a person back in time, but not forward. That means, he can't reach back to present time.
The scientist then asks Mahesh, "do you want to have the device still"?

P.S: This is just based on a funny thought I got when re-watching the Terminator movie on Netflix. No offence to anyone. This is just for fun.
