Arjuna: Krishna, you highlighted the greatness of having wisdom. If having wisdom is better than performing karma, why do you encourage me to do war? I am
now more confused with your confusing words, tell me one way which I can choose
without ambiguity.
Krishna: I have created two types of Yogas along with this world, that can lead people towards salvation. Wisdom for those who are interested to learn and duties for Karma Yogis. Just by not starting his duties, one can’t achieve perfection and just by abandoning his duties, one can’t achieve Wisdom. Everyone has to perform some or other task every second, atleast by adhering to the laws of nature. This is unavoidable. He who abandons his duty by forcing his senses and can't stop thinking about them in his mind is a sinner. A wise man practices and completes his deeds with his senses under control and not thinking about the result. Perform necessary duties in that way. Journey of life won’t be proper if you abandon those duties. Performing once duty with the result in mind forms unnecessary clutches to you. So, remove the interest on result and perform your tasks with devotion. You will see more success and favorable results this way.
The duties you perform in that manner is
same as worshipping God, this form of worship is rewarded by sustainable environment on earth. This is like a
cyclic process between human and celestial beings. Who doesn’t behave this way and
performs duties in selfish manner is a sinner.
In
short, performing duty as an offering gives success and creates atmosphere for all living beings to live. This whole process is originated from the almighty.
He who doesn’t follow this cycle is a sinner;
there is no use for him to live. A self-content person doesn’t have any duty to
perform, he is independent of everything. So, be self-content and perform your
duty without thinking about the result. This is the path for salvation.
I, being the Supreme Being doesn’t have
anything to achieve. But, I still perform my duties that way. This is because,
people follow the path of those respected. If I stop performing my duties, people will
follow that path and I will become responsible for all the disruption in this
world.
Similar
to a normal person performing their duties with lust and greed, a person with
wisdom (Scholar) performs his duties with a sense of responsibility towards the
world. A scholar shouldn’t try to influence normal person to lose interest in
his duties, rather he should continue performing his duties with dedication so
that the normal person will get influenced by him automatically.
Leave all your worries about the result of war to
me and perform your duty as a worrier without desire and affection. A person
performing this way gets detached from all the Karmas, and a person rejecting
this and acting with jealousy will lose in all the ways.
Affection and hatred tries to rule the
senses and duties, they are the enemies of human. Don’t get carried away with
them. You may find abandoning your duty really good. But,
continuing with the duty assigned to you is for better even if you were to die
with it.
Arjuna: Krishna! A man is forced to perform sins
even though he has no intention to do them. What is that power which is forcing
a man to perform them?
Krishna: They are Anger and Lust, they are the main objects of sin. They will never let a person to be content of what he has. They are the real enemies for a man in this world. Just like smoke is hiding fire, dust is hiding mirror and birth is hiding fetus, this never content lust is hiding the wisdom of a man. It resides in senses, mind and wit. It reaches a man through these and creates illusion of ecstasy. Oh Arjuna, keep your senses under control and drive Anger and Lust away from you.
