Why India is a Single Country

If a kid in India is asked the question, what is India? His answer might be in one of the below lines- India is the region from Kashmir in the north to Kanya Kumari in the south and Gujarat in the west to Arunachal Pradesh in the east. India is the combination of multiple languages, religions and cultures. Above responses from a kid are very satisfactory. But, is it fully correct? If first statement is correct, then India is less then 75 years old. If second statement is correct, then the question is what is keeping this country together? I thought about this question multiple times earlier. At some point, I even thought why should India be together at all? Below are the reasons I went through such thoughts. Many times people from one region look down at people from other regions in the same country. There is no easy way for people speaking one language to navigate in different region. But, my opinion changed completely with more understanding and reading. The name India might be ...

Draupadi in the court of Hastinapura (Draupadi Vastrapaharanam) - Part 5

Draupadi: I asked answers for two questions through the royal servant. For which, I didn't get any response. I am repeating them again. First question is to Yudhistor. Who gave you the authority to gamble me, when you don't have authority on yourself? (Yudhistar bent down his head and remained silent. Dhuryodhan replied.) Dhuryodhan: This is a silly question. Yudhistor became my slave, that doesn't mean that he lost his authority on you. Simply put, even a slave will have authority on his wife. So, this question is not valid here. Ofcourse, validity of that question doesn't matter now. (Draupadi understood that talking to Yudhistor is of no use. She then turned to the wise men of the count and posed them her next question.) Draupadi: Does the elders and wise minister of this court agree that a women can be humiliated like this in the court? Do you all agree with what Dhuryodhan is doing? Dhuryodhan: (Without waiting for anyone else to respond) If they had any objection,...

Draupadi in the court of Hastinapura (Draupadi Vastrapaharanam) - Part 4

Seeing Draupadi in that state, everyone who can see except the evil four wept silently. Vidura continued- Vidura: Oh King! While the first quarter of sin will go the person who did it. The second quarter will go those accompanying, the third quarter will go the people who directly or indirectly encourages and the final quarter will go the spectators who didn't try to stop it. Oh King! think to which category we both belong to?  Duryodhana: Vidura, you never liked my success and your never liked to see me rejoicing. You are partial towards Pandavas. So, there is no surprise that you are putting forward your stupid logic here. But, let me tell you something. You have only two options now, either to see what is happening and going to happen silently or leave the court immediately. We don't need a prime minister who doesn't like the success of Prince. Vidura: King! I were given options by your son after what I advised you. As prime minister to the empire, it is my duty to guid...

Draupadi in the court of Hastinapura (Draupadi Vastrapaharanam) - Part 3

Pratihari heard the anger in the voice of Prince Duryodhana. He bowed to his prince and started replying- Pratihari: Queen Draupadi asked... Sakuni: Draupadi is no more a queen. She is now a slave of Prince Duryodhana. So, don't prepend the word Queen for her. Pratihari: Draupadi asked couple of question for which I don't have answers. She said that she will come to the court once her questions are answered. The first question is, Did Yudhistara lost me first or lost himself first. If he lost himself first, then what is his right on me? Does Bhishma, Drona, Vidura and Krupacharya agreed to the idea that I have to come to court? Draupadi said that, she will not come to court unless she had answers for these questions. (Listening to this Duryodhana raged with anger and said.) Duryodhana: We don't have to answer any questions posed by slaves. You doesn't seem to have the will to bring her to the court.  (Duryodhana then addressed Dusyasana) Dusyasana, go and bring that sla...

Draupadi in the court of Hastinapura (Draupadi Vastrapaharanam) - Part 2

Anger of Duryodhana didn't stop Vidura from saying what he want to say. Vidura: Oh King! No doubt that Duryodhana is the prince of this vast empire. But, I am afraid of what will happen to the moral standards of people in this Kingdom and state of women of this Kingdom when he becomes the King. I am afraid to even imagine. (Karna and Sakuni interrupted Vidura) Karna: Women in the Kingdom will be given same respect as they are receiving now. Slave women like Draupadi will be treated the way their masters wish. Dear Vidura, nothing is going wrong here. Sakuni: Karna said correctly, if anything was going wrong. Why didn't anyone in the court interfere in between? Even you are witnessing from beginning. Why didn't you try to stop the game? I seriously doubt if you will say what you are saying if Duryodhana is in this position. Vidura: Duryodhana won't be in such position. Because, Pandavas are not guided by a wicked force like you. They are guided by Lord Krishna. Sakuni: ...

Draupadi in the court of Hastinapura (Draupadi Vastrapaharanam) - Part 1

The game of dice laid clear path for war. Yudistara, the eldest of Pandavas and King of Indraprasta lost everything in gambling. He lost all his wealth, his kingdom, himself, all his brothers and finally the queen of Indraprasta, Draupadi.  Yudistara's opponent, Duryodhana the prince of Hastinapura along with his mentor and uncle Sakuni, his brother Dushyasana and his friend Karna are cherishing the moment. They are making the best use of the opportunity to humiliate Pandava brothers. They took away the crown of Yudistara, weapons of Pandavas and even their cloths. Some of the people in the court of India's biggest empire are cherishing what is happening, while those who felt it wrong remained mute. Duryodhana wants to take the insult to Pandava's to next level. He ordered Pratihari, the royal servant to bring Draupadi to the court. Vidura, the wise Prime Minister of Hastinapura can no longer withstand this. He rose and said to Drutharastra, the blind king of Hastin...
